FAQs
What is protea+ and how is it different from regular protea?
protea+ is our bolder, sweeter line built for people who want their protein drink to feel like a treat. Where classic protea is designed to be light, subtle, and not-too-sweet, protea+ leans fully into bold flavour.
Think iced lemon tea the way you'd actually want to drink it. It's still built on the same grass-fed whey isolate base, but we use flavourings and a special sweetener blend to maximise taste impact. Less "wellness drink", more "something you actually crave."
Does protea+ contain artificial sweeteners?
Yes. protea+ uses sucralose in addition to erythritol and stevia to achieve its bolder sweetness. We know this is a tradeoff from the cleaner ingredient list of classic protea, and we made it intentionally: protea+ is optimised for flavour above all else. If you prefer a fully natural sweetener profile, classic protea is your drink.
Why does protea+ use flavourings when classic protea doesn't?
Classic protea is built around real tea extracts with no added flavourings; the flavour comes entirely from the ingredient itself. protea+ is a different philosophy: we want to push flavour intensity further than natural ingredients alone can take us.
Flavourings let us dial in bold, authentic-tasting profiles (like a proper iced lemon tea) that would be hard to achieve otherwise. We use them in small amounts and test extensively to make sure the taste is spot on.
Does protea+ contain sugar?
No sugar. Like classic protea, protea+ is sweetened with zero-calorie sweeteners (erythritol, stevia, and sucralose) so it keeps calories low (90 kcal per bottle) while still tasting distinctly sweet.
Is protea+ suitable for people with lactose intolerance?
Yes. protea+ uses whey protein isolate, which is filtered to remove all lactose. It's 100% lactose-free and easy to digest.
Is protea+ suitable for vegetarians or vegans?
protea+ is suitable for vegetarians. It is not suitable for vegans as it contains whey protein isolate derived from cow's milk.
Does protea+ contain caffeine?
Yes. protea+ Lemon Tea is made with black tea, which naturally contains caffeine at a level roughly comparable to a standard cup of tea. If you're sensitive to caffeine or drinking it in the evening, we'd recommend classic protea's Chrysanthemum flavour instead, which is decaffeinated.
How should I store protea+? Does it need to be refrigerated?
Unopened bottles can be stored at room temperature with no refrigeration needed. We strongly recommend drinking it chilled though: protea+ Lemon Tea is at its best ice cold, straight from the fridge. Once opened, refrigerate and finish within 24 hours.
I prefer classic protea. Should I still try protea+?
They're genuinely different drinks made for different moods. If you love classic protea for its subtlety and clean ingredients, you might find protea+ too sweet for everyday use, and that's totally fine.
Think of protea+ as the funner option: great when you want something that hits harder, or as a treat after a workout. Many customers enjoy both depending on the occasion.
