5. Quest
Source: Decathlon
Run-of-the-mill protein shake with a relatively thinner texture that goes down smoothly. It uses a decent amount of sucralose and stevia, resulting in a very sweet taste. It’s more like fortified chocolate milk than a shake, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Kind of average, can't go wrong with it - 5/10
4. Lean Body

Probably the most famous drink on this list, with a hefty 40g of protein per bottle. It has a lot of chemical additives, likely to stabilize the drink and extend its shelf life. The taste itself is surprisingly good, and it doesn’t feel like you’re drinking 40g of protein, while the texture is similar to a chocolate milkshake and leaves a sticky feeling.
Good for bulking, not the cleanest - 7/10
3. Barebells

Tastes most like a milkshake out of the available options and is lactose-free, thanks to the addition of the lactase enzyme. The texture is velvety and creamy, just what you’d expect from a milkshake. It’s slightly on the sweeter side but overall well-balanced.
Decent taste, okay texture - 7/10
2. Labnosh

On the more affordable side, these Korean drinks still taste relatively decent and definitely have unique flavours: sweet potato, coffee, and melon are just some of the available options. This has a relatively stronger protein taste, but it goes down quite well and has a good amount of protein.
Good value, interesting flavours - 8/10
1. protea

Clean, light, and doesn’t taste “healthy.” While it’s not perfect yet (we’re working on it!), it’s the only shake here without any flavourings or stabilisers. Thanks to the use of clear whey, the milky protein taste is almost entirely eliminated, making room for unique flavours like jasmine tea and oolong—completely different from the sweet milkshakes most are used to.
Tastes good, clean ingredients - 8/10
